The Lost World – Crystal Palace Park

It’s not surprising to think that birds were once dinosaurs, particularly when you look at a bird like the heron. The eyes, the walk, the general air of menace that the heron displays… If ever you needed a reminder that these birds are the link between a lost world and ours, this is it.

Crystal Palace Park provides the perfect backdrop for a lesson in natural history. Today’s heron took it upon himself to entertain the punters with a pterodactyl like performance, strutting his stuff on Richard Owen’s dinosaur island. What a beauty this bird is.
